Electricity Network
and
Frequency Converters
Workshop
The various Electricity Boards in Switzerland connect 380VAC 3-phase to every home. From there the proprietor is free to split it into 220VAC one phase within his building. In Switzerland most of the larger kitchen appliances such as dish, washing machines and ovens work on 380VAC-3phase, fridges on 220VAC single phase.

In order to have variable speed on my Atlas, wood and ornamental lathes as well as on my drill/mill machine, I could buy on Ebay a couple of frequency converters and these work extremely well.

This one is a Control Rack for my home made wood lathe. It includes a commercial analog Frequency Converter for variable speed, a Universal Counter showing the RPM of the spindle and a regulated PSU of 15VDC-20A for driving the carriage of the home made  Copying, Threading and Fluting Device.
Magnet at the back of the Remote Control Box
MOVITRAC (Germany) digital Frequency Converter
- input 380VAC - three phase
- output 380VAC - 2.8 KV three phase - frequency 5 - 120 Hz used on my Atlas 10F.
The movable Remote Control lies just over the converter.
The box on the left is the main switch.
The small box at the right of the frequency converter is a remote control for speed and start/stop which has a magnet at the back so that I can fix it anywhere on the lathe depending where I am working.
