The first problem to work with the Atlas was a stand. This one is made out of square tubes (60x60x4mm or 2.3/8x2.3/8"x5/32) and angles of same size
The second problem for a European is the "Cinch" system. Therefore the easiest way to transform the dials from inch to metric is either an electronic readout or, for the poorer man, mechanical instruments...
.. and the third problem is the motor, the power net having a different frequency and voltage.
